“You Should Be In Jail”: Hillary Clinton’s New State Department Portrait Inspires Online Mockery

Former Secretary of State and failed 2016 presidential contender Hillary Clinton recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to show off her recently unveiled State Department portrait, with a series of posts leading to much criticism and mockery of her from the right, which is still furious with her handling of emails and Benghazi.

As background, Hillary is accused of having run a private email server that had classified material on it and, when it was to be investigated, “wiping” it of sensitive data, thus frustrating the investigation.

She is also accused of handling the Benghazi terrorist attack in a feckless and careless way, leading to the deaths of American personnel.

In any case, she took to X to post about the portrait, saying, “Today, I was honored to return to the @StateDept and join @SecBlinken in unveiling my official portrait as 67th Secretary of State. We’re delighted to share it with the American public right here, in case you don’t make it in person to headquarters in Foggy Bottom anytime soon.“

“Thank you to artist Steven Polson for his phenomenal work,” she added. “When I walked into the State Department as Secretary fourteen years ago, I knew that having the honor to lead the State Department and USAID would be a singular challenge and a unique chance to do good in the world. It was that and so much more,” she continued.

“I’m deeply proud of all that we accomplished and grateful to everyone at the Department for their unflagging work to ensure peace, progress, and prosperity around the world. They continue to make me, and our country, proud,” she concluded.

The conservative contingent on Twitter was less pleased than Hillary, however. For example, Federalist co-founder Sean Davis took the opportunity to remind his followers of the Benghazi tragedy. In a quote tweet reply to her post, he included an image of murdered U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens. Stevens, along with three other Americans, was killed by Libyan terrorists as the US government refused to provide air support to the contractors attempting to fight off the mob.

The House Judiciary GOP X account posted a similar image:

A populist X account called Republicans for National Renewal posted, “You should be in jail.” Responding to that quote tweet, one commenter said, “First before the Hague for atrocious war crimes. She is a war criminal of the worst kind.”

Laura Loomer, for her part, said, “Wait. How did they forgot to add the picture of ambassador Christopher Steven’s body getting dragged through the streets of Benghazi, Libya? Talk about a selective piece of “artwork”. I guess the artist forgot to paint that part of the portrait. Gee. “What happened”? Remember when Hillary launched her book on the anniversary of Benghazi like a psychopath? RIP Ambassador Stevens”

Gray Zone journalist Anya Parampil took the opportunity to castigate Hillary for her legacy as a warmonger, saying, “This almost captures you! It’s just missing several destroyed nations and millions of bloody carcasses.”
