Woman Discovers Lost Engagement Ring Around Carrot After 13 Years

In a heartwarming story from 2017, Mary Grams of Alberta, Canada, was reunited with her long-lost engagement ring after it was found wrapped around a carrot in her garden. The incredible discovery came almost 13 years after Mary had lost hope of ever seeing her beloved ring again.

Mary had lost her engagement ring back in 2004 while tending to the weeds on her family’s farm. She searched tirelessly for days but couldn’t find it anywhere. Little did she know that fate had something special in store for her.

The discovery was made by Mary’s daughter-in-law, who plucked a peculiar-looking carrot from the garden. To everyone’s astonishment, the carrot had Mary’s engagement ring tightly wrapped around its root. It was a moment of pure joy and disbelief for Mary and her family.

Recounting the day she lost the ring, Mary said, “I went to the garden for something and I saw this long weed. For some reason, I picked it up and it must have caught on something and pulled [the ring] off.” She had been wearing the ring since 1951, a year before she married her husband, Norman. Despite their efforts to find it, they were unable to locate the ring and assumed it was lost forever.

Not wanting to upset her husband, Mary decided to keep the loss a secret and bought herself a similar-looking ring. “I didn’t tell him because I thought for sure he’d give me heck or something,” she shared. It was a small, sentimental secret she carried with her for over 13 years.

Even though Mary and her family had moved away from the farm, they still took care of the garden, which had been a part of their family for over 105 years. When Mary’s daughter-in-law, Colleen Daley, found the ring, she immediately knew it had to belong to either her grandmother or her mother-in-law. After showing it to her husband, he confirmed that it was indeed Mary’s long-lost engagement ring.

The way the ring had grown around the carrot was intriguing and unique. Daley described it as “pretty weird-looking” and “quite interesting.” It was a remarkable sight to behold and a testament to the power of nature.

Mary was overjoyed to have her engagement ring back in her possession after all those years. She plans to wear it proudly on her finger, cherishing the memories it represents. Although her husband passed away over five years ago, this incredible discovery brings back treasured memories of their 60-year marriage.

This heartwarming story serves as a reminder that sometimes, against all odds, lost treasures can find their way back to us. Just like Mary, we should never lose hope and always believe in the power of love and serendipity.
