Street musician asks kid if he wants to sing and can’t believe his song choices

If you’ve not heard of Guitaro5000’s YouTube channel, then dare I say you’ve missed out on some charming song covers and street collabs.

The channel, run by Reginald Guillaume, is all about authentic music straight from the hearts of whoever walks past him on the street.

Reginald was once again scouting for would-be singers to cover songs with him.

This time, it took place on the outside benches of a shopping center.

Talent can be found anywhere if you look hard enough, and that’s a huge focus of his channel.

He’s a musical expert himself, so you could say he’s got a trained eye and ear.

So what kind of singers is Reginald gonna find here?

Well, maybe this father and two boys who’re walking by might be worth asking.

They’re here to shop, while Reginald has other reasons for being here.

The dad informs him that they might not have a lot of time, to which Reginald assures him that it won’t take long.

One of the sons steps up and he looks around 9-years-old.

Given his age, you can’t help but wonder what sort of music his generation listens to. Reginald asks him just that.

His name is Finn. He seems approachable and chatty, and doesn’t seem fussed making small talk with someone he just met.

Finn shares that he’s been taking voice lessons for a year. He’s starting young.

What a coincidence too that he’s one of the first people Reginald stopped.

His motivation for taking voice lessons is none other than his simple love of music.

That’s a great reason to get into a hobby – in fact, it’s probably the best.

So what songs does he know?

He names Bill Withers, John Batiste, and Elton John as his favorite artists.

This kid’s got some old-timey taste in music. Evidently, he must have gotten it from his parents or grandparents.

So Reginald asks him if he knows “Ain’t No Sunshine” by Bill Withers. He does!

But of all the songs under those names, his personal favorite is “Lean On Me”.

Reginald asks him if he needs a lyric sheet, but Finn assures him he’ll manage.

So the guitar starts playing, and Finn starts singing.

You can tell the voice lessons helped, and Reginald is joyed to see such a young fan of that era of music.

Eventually, Reginald starts joining him on the vocals as backup.

A smile is clear on his face while he continues to play and back up the awesome kid, and you can tell this meeting already made his day.

Finn’s dad proudly films the whole scene.

Between that and Reginald uploading it to YouTube, that guarantees Finn’s gonna be famous.

The song’s over, and now the two can’t help but chat over how awesome that was.

Finn’s glad he got to sing again, and Reginald’s pleased to have met such a bright young man.
