Son Tells Parents They’re ‘Not Good Enough’ To Come To His Wedding So They Sell His House

In a heart wrenching story a father shared his turmoil on the Reddit forum “Am I the Asshole” (AITA), after being uninvited along with his spouse and daughter from his sons upcoming wedding.

The parents had generously bought a property for their son in Pennsylvania. Things took a turn for the worse when the fiancées family got involved.

“A Clash of Compatibility”

Tensions escalated during a barbecue at their home when the fiancées family abruptly declared that they saw the fathers family as “incompatible with their kind ” resulting in their wedding invitations being retracted without any ceremony. The father was shocked and hurt by this rejection. Tried to have a conversation with his son but it seemed impossible to find common ground or resolve the issue.

Unraveling the Mystery of “Inadequacy”

The father struggled to understand why his family was considered unworthy and why his son would accept such an insult. In an attempt to find some civility he visited the property in Pennsylvania only to be met with hostility from the fiancées family who were now living there. In response he made the decision to sell the property giving them 30 days notice to vacate.

Seeking Advice, on AITAIn search of guidance the father reached out to the community of AITA sharing the details of his situation and seeking opinions, on whether his actions were appropriate. The responses varied, with some suggesting that the son might be under the influence of his fiancées family while others supported the fathers decision to protect his property rights.

A Call for Legal Advice

Many users advised the father to seek counsel to ensure an eviction process and document the condition of the property in order to prevent any disputes.

Considering Perspectives

Despite feeling pain some users encouraged the father to consider that his son might be a victim rather than a wrongdoer. They suggested offering support and understanding before considering severing ties.

Prioritizing Rental Regulations

While emotions ran high other users emphasized that it was essential for the father to adhere to tenancy laws and address issues related to the property. After resolving these matters should he think about bridging gaps and addressing misunderstandings with his son.

Navigating an Uncertain Path

The father now faces a journey as he tries to navigate both his relationship with his son and safeguarding his rights as a property owner. Striving for understanding and empathy may play a role, in building bridges. Potentially finding a resolution.
