It can be difficult when you grow up in a small town and have very little to your name. It happens all too often, and it also happened back in the middle of the 1900s when there was a family will 12 siblings born in the Tennessee Highlands.
The family was poor but they never really thought much about it because of the love that was shown by the parents. They had a strong family bond, and despite the fact that they didn’t have much materially, they did well together as a unit.
Many of the neighbors also said that they had just as much as anybody else had in the area, but undoubtedly, one little girl felt as if she had difficulties because of the poverty and it really made her early life problematic.
The little girl was born into a household where there were plenty of children. The father was a strong businessman and the mother had a lot of creativity and spirituality. The little girl managed to gather both of those factors from the parents and it helped her to grow stronger as a result.
When she was a little child, she began singing in the church choir and it wasn’t long before they knew she had something special. Her mother would even make her outfits out of flour sacks and leftover fabric and it wasn’t long before she was famous.
In case you haven’t guessed it yet, we are discussing Dolly Parton. She is now 78 years old but she is still a legend in the country music industry and she has achieved something that almost nobody has achieved. She has gathered together some $500 million in her empire and has written some 3000 songs.
Despite the fact that she is getting up in years, she still continues to write and sing a lot of songs. She doesn’t tour any longer, but we do see her often, including at a Super Bowl recently.
Dolly Parton may not have been born with a silver spoon in her mouth but she certainly did make the most of her life. Undoubtedly, she is someone that we can all appreciate.
