A familiar figure from the reality show “Sister Wives,” Meri Brown, updated her Instagram fans on a heartbreaking situation on the sixth of October, 2023.

She paid tribute to her cherished older brother, Adam Barber, who had passed away on October 5th, only two months shy of his 55th birthday.

His passing occurred just two months before his birthday. Because Adam’s death occurred only five weeks after he took the difficult decision to quit his chemotherapy treatment owing to the unrelenting progression of his disease and the terrible deterioration of his health, this loss was made much more poignant by the fact that Adam had passed away.

This made the loss feel even more personal.

Meri channeled all of her feelings into a sincere post on Instagram, which served as a safe space for her to communicate the depth of her grief. She remembered about the many different experiences, both happy and difficult, that she had gone through alongside her brother throughout their lives. It dawned on her that she was now the only survivor of the “original four,” a group that consisted of her three eldest siblings: Teresa, Mark, and Adam. This realization filled her with a sense of foreboding. Tragically, Teresa had lost her battle with illness in 2006, and Mark had tragically passed away from issues related to his heart in 2015.

Meri found herself dwelling on the special connection that the three of them had shared even when she was at her most depressed. They were the only children in their family to be born in California, and they had many fond memories of their childhood years spent there, before their parents made the life-altering decision to migrate to Utah and embrace the lifestyle of a multiple family. The ‘original four’ had an unbreakable connection, which may have been caused by the fact that they were born so close together, with only 1-1/2 to 2 years separating each of them.

Meri was determined to move on with her life while also cherishing the memories of her siblings, despite the great burden of grief and disorientation brought on by the terrible impact of Adam’s departure. She admitted that she might never fully comprehend why Adam’s death had impacted her so deeply, but she stayed steadfast in her commitment to commemorate her brothers and sisters by remembering the good, the bad, the humorous, the heartwarming, and the devastating moments they had experienced together. She smiled to herself as she recalled one of the innumerable discussions that she and Adam had had, in which they discussed the appropriateness of utilizing the word “irregardless.”

In her heartfelt eulogy, Meri highlighted her eagerness to keep growing as a person as a result of the experiences she had shared with Adam, and she looked forward to the opportunities that lie ahead. She ended her post with a message that came from the bottom of her heart, honoring her brother with respect, kindness, and love. She jokingly declared that she had the “last word,” which was a sweet homage to their sibling rivalry and a monument to the enduring friendship that transcended their earthly fights and disagreements.
