Mary Poppins Star Turns 100

Mary Poppins is a movie that has touched generations. We still follow those who were part of the movie, and when they have a milestone moment in their life, we celebrate along with them.

This includes actress Glynis Johns, who also played a big role in the Mary Poppins movie.

She also had a moment recently that we are celebrating, she turned 100 years old.

Jones is known for starring as Mrs. Winnifred Banks in the movie. It is a character that played perhaps a smaller part, but one that is certainly memorable in the minds of us who watched the movie.

Many people don’t realize that John’s has been in more than 60 movies and 30 plays over the years. She was born in South Africa and was only a few weeks old when her grandmother took her on stage in the West End.

Her grandmother was a virtuoso violinist, and her mother was also a musician. They had an impact on her life but her father, who is Welsh, got her involved in the cinema. She was able to get into ballet school and eventually, to stage school.

In 1938, she made her debut on the silver screen and it wasn’t long before she was a star. This occurred when she played in the 1941 war drama film, 49th Parallel. She also played in No Highway in the Sky in 1951.

Although she played in many different films, she is best known for playing the suffragist matriarch in the Walt Disney movie, Mary Poppins. This was in 1964, and she ended up getting a Laurel Award for Best Female Supporting Performance.

She continued to star in various films till the 1990s.

Over the years, she has won a number of different awards and nominations. These include Golden Globes, Tony Awards, Academy Awards, Laurel Awards, and Drama Desk Awards.

The Golden Age of Hollywood is certainly one that is memorable and there are not many actors that are still alive from that time. Since the death of Olivia de Havilland and Betty White, she is now the oldest living Disney legend.

Many people came online to show their support for the actress on her 100th birthday. It’s always amazing when somebody hits this milestone, and we wish her many more happy years.
