A woman who had been happily co-parenting her daughter with her baby daddy was shocked after finding out what the man and his long-term girlfriend had named their newborn baby. The woman expressed concerns about their choice of name, describing the action as creepy and malicious.
A woman recently took to Reddit to get a load off her mind. The original poster (OP) opened up about her relationship with her baby daddy and his girlfriend and how things took a different turn when her kid’s father and his girlfriend welcomed their newborn, a baby girl.
Initially, the three of them had a great relationship, but the man’s girlfriend crossed the line when she named her newborn. What frustrated the woman more was that the man couldn’t stop it.

How the OP Supported the Man and His Girlfriend
The Redditor and the man welcomed their daughter when she was in her mid-20s, and they decided to keep the baby and co-parent while remaining friends. The two happily co-parented their daughter even when the man got into a serious relationship with another woman. When the man’s girlfriend got pregnant, OP supported them without crossing any lines.
She went a step further by encouraging her daughter to assist whenever she stayed with them and volunteered to babysit if they wished to have some private time, as she genuinely wanted the children to develop a strong sibling bond despite having different mothers.
Everything was fine; they all had a great relationship, and OP was excited for her daughter to have a sibling as she always wanted one, and the Redditor didn’t have plans of having another child.

When the man and his girlfriend finally welcomed their baby, they asked the Redditor to take her daughter to the hospital to meet her baby sister. After they got there, OP was taken aback after the man and his girlfriend introduced her to their newborn.
They had given their newborn the same name as her daughter. It was a tense situation as the man seemed uncomfortable and couldn’t look at OP directly. On the other hand, the man’s girlfriend didn’t seem to think she had done anything wrong.
How OP Reacted after Learning the Newborn’s Name
The name choice didn’t sit well with the woman, and she tried to seek answers as to why they settled for that name. When she asked if the baby was named after her daughter, the man’s girlfriend explained that she chose the baby’s name simply because she liked it.

While still trying to get answers, the woman asked if the man and his girlfriend planned to use a nickname or a middle name when addressing the baby, and the woman responded that she didn’t see the need for that. The Redditor revealed she asked them why they were being unreasonable. She also shared:
“I told them they were being ridiculous and that they couldn’t do this…”
The woman expressed her discomfort to the man’s girlfriend, labeling their actions unsettling. She also told the man she considered him weak for supporting the idea. In response, the man suggested that their daughter could use a nickname.

However, OP promptly disagreed, questioning why it was considered more reasonable for their 10-year-old daughter, who had been using that name for a decade, to change her name compared to a baby who had no understanding of names yet.
The man’s girlfriend immediately started calling the Redditor names, telling her she was insensitive for talking to her like that after she had just given birth. She asked the hospital nurses to make her leave the room for being disruptive.

While OP acknowledged that the man and his girlfriend could give their baby any name of their choice, she stressed that her daughter’s name was off limits, and if they liked it, they could have adjusted it. According to the Redditor, she feels the man’s girlfriend was being malicious and trying to replace her daughter.
