There are moments in our life that truly define us and they are going to be the moments we remember more than any other. One of those moments is when we walk down the aisle during our wedding.
It’s memorable, regardless of how we walk down the aisle but when we have our loving father by our side, it really makes it a special event. A man by the name of Willie Shelton was looking forward to doing this with his daughters, but his life had something else in mind.
It was Willy’s dream to walk his 7 daughters down the aisle when it was their time to get married. It had always been his wish, but the veteran’s health was not doing well.
As his health continued to decline, the family realized that his greatest wish would probably never come true. That doesn’t mean, however, that they had to completely ignore the wish altogether.
His family decided to do something special and they put a plan in place that would really make a difference. It took a lot of work behind the scenes, including some help from LifeCare Hospice, David’s Bridal, a local hair salon, and a professional photographer. In the end, it would all be worth it.
One of his daughters was preparing to get married and it was going to be a ceremony held in their backyard. Willie was ready to walk his one daughter down the aisle, thinking that the other daughters would be bridesmaids.
As those other daughters began to come out of the home, however, Willie was shocked to see that they all had on a wedding gown. They gathered around him dressed in white, and then he realized what was going on.
They stood Willie up and gave him help so that he could do what he always wanted to do. He walked his seven daughters down the aisle that day.
Two weeks after the event, Willie passed away. The town in Ohio where he lived, however, had an idea to make sure that he was remembered for the kind things he did.
