Claire McKenna sent her parents an urgent text message on October 11, 2022, saying that she was in desperate need of help.
This would be the last time her parents would hear from the young woman who was a native of Ireland because her body would be found in a bush in the Queens section of New York City less than twenty-four hours later on October 12, 2022.
The 26-year-old aspiring singer’s body was found on 94th Avenue and 214 Street, which is located in a quaint residential part of Queens Village. A passerby discovered her lifeless body in the bushes.
Claire McKenna’s family knew that their daughter was not a hard drug user. Although she did have a medical cannabis card, which is totally legal in the state of New York, she was not one to abuse harder drugs like heroin or crack and meth.
During a conversation with the New York Post, McKenna’s father, Derek, urged American authorities not to brush off his daughter’s death as a drug overdose because he thinks something suspicious happened to his beloved girl.
Daily Mail contacted the medical examiner’s office and was given a simple message in reply that stated, “The cause and manner of death remain under investigation. That is the extent of a comment our office can offer.”
McKenna’s family has started to offer a $35,000 reward for anyone who has information that leads to a conviction in the death of the 26-year-old aspiring singer.
“The family of Claire McKenna of Astoria, New York, is offering a reward of $35,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction concerning the death of Claire McKenna.
“On Tuesday morning, October 11, 2022, at 3:11 am, the McKenna family received a text from their beloved daughter, Claire requesting ‘help,’ and advising them that the battery on her cellphone was dying. On Wednesday morning, October 12, 2022, at approximately 4:30 am (over twenty-four hours after the text was sent by Claire), a man, fully covered with a mask and dark clothes, was captured on videotape pushing Claire’s body in a dolly and was caught dumping her body in a bush located in 94th Avenue and 214th Street, Queens, New York.”
McKenna’s uncle and godfather Nigel told the Irish Independent that Claire’s death was devastating for her parents, Derek and Deidre, as well as her older sisters Mary and Julia.
“She had spoken to my brother on Monday morning, October 10th and everything was fine. We are all devastated.”
