We often think about celebrity marriages as being here today, gone tomorrow.

After all, they face a lot of pressure because of being in the public eye and any problem or hiccup they may experience is going to be reported on by the news media.

There are times, however, when we hear about a celebrity couple that not only stand the test of time, they do so in style. Alan Alda is just such a celebrity, and at 86 years of age, he has been married for 65 years to Arlene.

As you can imagine, there is a lot of wisdom behind a couple that has been married for that long. He is in love with her and has been in love with her since they met in 1957.

With 65 years of marriage under their belt, they have a thing or two to say about the longevity of matrimony. There are also plenty of stories to tell, including one about how Alan met Arlene in college at a party.

It seems as if a rum cake had fallen on the floor and the two of them didn’t have any problem eating it. That may or may not be true, but it is a story that we hear from time to time.

Alan Alda did give some clarification as to what happened on that day. It wasn’t the cake or the party that started the love they had together, it was the fact that Arlene was laughing at his jokes and he felt appreciated.

People sometimes will talk about how their partners are funny but when you have a partner that makes you feel funny and appreciated, it can really make a difference.

Perhaps he said it best when he said: “But I was captivated by her even earlier in the meal when I heard her at the end of the table laughing at my jokes.”

He went on to say: “She had me at Ha.”

The two have been together since they met after his graduation. They have three children and eight grandchildren.

Not only do they love laughing, but they also love music and board games. Arlene is a musician and played the clarinet in an orchestra.

When you look at the two of them in any pictures, you will always see that they have a smile on their faces. Alan Alda also says that it is important to have a short memory, as that is the key to a happy marriage.

In the end, it’s amazing to hear about these two and the marriage they have with each other. We wish them many more years together of happiness.
