Hearty and Flavorful: A Classic Beef Stew Recipe

There are few dishes as comforting and satisfying as a bowl of hearty beef stew. This classic dish is perfect for chilly days or when you’re craving a warm and filling meal. Made with tender beef, vegetables, and a rich broth, beef stew is a timeless favorite that never fails to impress. Here’s how you can make your own delicious beef stew at home:

Ingredients:
– 2 pounds of beef stew meat, cut into bite-sized pieces
– 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
– 4 cups of beef broth
– 1 cup of red wine (optional)
– 1 onion, chopped
– 2 cloves of garlic, minced
– 4 carrots, peeled and sliced
– 3 potatoes, peeled and cubed
– 2 stalks of celery, sliced
– 1 teaspoon of dried thyme
– 1 teaspoon of dried rosemary
– Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the beef stew meat and brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the meat from the pot and set aside.

2. In the same pot, add the chopped onion and garlic. Cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.

3. Return the beef to the pot and add the beef broth and red wine, if using. Bring to a simmer.

4. Add the carrots, potatoes, celery, thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper to the pot. Stir to combine.

5. Cover the pot and simmer over low heat for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, or until the beef is tender and the vegetables are cooked through.

6. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
