Captivating Rendition of “The Sound of Silence” by a Powerful Heavy Metal Vocalist from ‘Disturbed’

Disturbed, the heavy metal band from Chicago known for their hard-hitting rock tracks, surprised everyone with their live performance of Simon and Garfunkel’s classic folk song, “The Sound of Silence,” on Conan in 2016.

Although their usual style leans more towards nü metal, their rendition of this iconic track from the ’60s and ’70s was surprisingly impressive.

The cover was featured on their 2015 album, Immortalized, and showcased a different side of the band.

Over the years, many artists have covered “The Sound of Silence,” with more than 60 versions recorded since its release in 1965, according to Smithsonian Magazine. Artists like James Blake have also offered their own unique interpretations, including an electronica rendition in 2015.
