Never Leave Home Without A Coin In The Freezer

When we look on the Internet, we are going to find things that distract us from getting our work done. Every once in a while, however, we may find something that is not only useful, it is life-changing.

That is what we found in a post that was on Facebook. It tells you something that you may never thought about before but when you do it, it can keep you and your family from getting sick.

This really was associated with a hurricane that was a big problem for many in the southern United States. There was a trick that was posted on Facebook, and it was one that anyone who evacuated their home could easily do.

It was a way to monitor your home in a very specific manner and you would know if the food was safe to eat when you came home after a long time away. Believe me, it could make the difference between you getting very sick and wasting hundreds of dollars.

The trick is really simple. You simply take a mug, fill it with water, and freeze it in the freezer. You then put a coin on top.

The Facebook post said: “For those of you who are evacuating from the coast, I just heard a great tip. It’s called the one-cup tip. You put a cup of water in your freezer, freeze it solid, and then put a quarter on top of it and leave it in your freezer. That way, when you come back after you’ve been evacuated, you can tell if your food went completely bad and just refroze, or if it stayed frozen while you were gone.

If the quarter has fallen to the bottom of the cup, that means all the food defrosted, and you should throw it out. But if the quarter is either on the top or in the middle of the cup, then your food may still be ok. It would also be a great idea to leave this in your freezer all the time, and if you lose power for any reason, you will have this tip to fall back on.”

It really is that simple!
